Is this game for me? - Guild Wars Forums

A friend told me about this game and said it was fun, So I went to Guild Wars.com and looked around and it looked like a nice game. So i went to the forums and look at some more of the other stuff and seemed a little interested. But i havn't played the game yet and thats what really counts, Is there a demo i can try out or a Free trial? I orginnally play Star Wars Galaxies and like the way it plays, but it's getting a little old and im looking for something new. Im looking for something where PvP proffesions are all evened out and not one is super powerfull. And im wanting to know if the PvE is alot of fun to. Also how excatly does the PvP work, do you join a guild and declare war on another guild and fight till one surrenders, Do you have to be in a guild to PvP?

from what you said you wanted, GW is a game you would like. It has awesome PvP, and all professions are excellently balanced, the best ive seen. PvE is great fun too, especially when you are in a group of people. There are many different kinds of PvP. There are multiple Arenas throughout the world, where you fight with and against random groups of players. There are tournaments where you make your own party and fight to the top of the ladder (i.e. Tombs, Hall of Heroes), and there is Guild vs. Guild battles, which you can do if you have a Guild Hall if i remember correctly. Therefore, you dont have to be in a guild to play PvP or PvE, but i recommend it because you can be in a group of players who can do things together and do GvG. Also keep in mind that in GvG, you only send 8 players from your guild to battle it out, so it isnt like whole guilds fighting each other. That would destroy the strategy of it.

Overall, it is an awesome game that can kick any other online RPG's arse any day, including WoW.

yes, that would help a lot in your decision. Create a temporary character under your friends account, try out Pre-Searing, and see if you like it.

Hmmm from the replies sounds like it would be a great game. oh and my friend doesnt have it he was just telling me about it because he might get it. I'll proably get it this weekend. Thanks for the info and cant wait to play.
